Boston health officials have voted to treat electronic cigarettes, known as e-cigarettes, as tobacco products, banning the use of the increasingly popular products in the workplace and restricting their sale to adults only. The Boston Globe reported that battery-powered e-cigs, which often resemble regular cigarettes, deliver nicotine in the form of vapor and have been largely unregulated. Increasing restrictions will be making it harder for us to use electronic cigarettes “anywhere.” It seems they want to treat ecigarettes as if they are like the polluting tobacco cigarettes, when they obviously are not.

Hawaii State Legislature Targets Electronic Cigarettes with New Bill Wednesday, January 26, 2011 – 4:45 p.m. HST Yesterday the Hawaii State Legislature introduced two bills to the state house and senate seeking to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors and reclassify the product as a tobacco product for purposes of taxation. As you might imagine we strongly support any measure that would ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors and have already enacted company-wide policies to make sure that we are not putting these devices in the hands of minors. However, the bill has many unintended consequences that endangers both the supplier and user of electronic cigarettes in Hawaii and nationwide should the bill pass. We humbly ask for your help in defeating this flawed measure and encourage you to visit the official forum post and online petition for more information. * Forum post: http://forum.volcanoecigs.com/hawaii-call-action-t8286.html Read full post click here
